Mana sama Selection

Adapted from the article "Mana (Malice Mizer) x Moi-Meme Moitié", EGL Bible Vol. 3, pg. 21, Jan. 10, 2002.

(In this article, Mana gives recommendations for various media and grants a small interview. )

Video

  • Count Dracula (Jesus Franco, 1970)
This work is not part of the original Hammer Horror family, but the opening sound and image are cool, so I chose it. The work has very gothic feel and I really like it.

Books

  • Quarterly Movie Treasury 11- Dracula Trivia/Picture Dictionary
(季刊映画宝庫 - A Japanese movie mook)
This is an old book from 1980, so I think it is hard to get now. Actually, I lost this book once, but the child of a fan found a copy recently and sent it to me. It makes me very happy.
  • The Vampire Encyclopedia - Matthew Bunson, Translated by Kazuya Matsuda
This is a dictionary about vampires. It has all the information you need to know about vampires, so it is highly recommended to "vampire beginners". It is useful to have a copy at home.

CD

  • FLESHEATERS - The Return of the Undead (1996)
A three-disc omnibus compilation album featuring bands that were classified as "Positive Punk" in the 80's. Bauhaus, Christian Death, and other bands of the time are included, so I think it's a great deal.

Goods

  • Hammer Horror Playing Cards
They are playing cards with one unique scene from the Hammer horror films printed on each one. I don't play games with them, but I do look through them sometimes. I bought them at my favorite horror shop.

WANTED!! ~Request from Mana sama~

Currently Mana sama is looking for the two videos listed below. If you find one, please contact the "Gothic & Lolita Bible Editorial Department". There might be a nice present for the first person to find them.
  • Blood Gravemark (Known as Black Sunday, The Mask of Satan, and Revenge of the Vampire - Mario Baba, 1960, Italian)
  • Lips of Blood (Lèvres de Sang - Jean Rollin, 1975, French)

Information

(This portion had a few photo stills from "Bara no Konrei".)
Finally the veil has been taken off of Malice Mizer's first movie, "Bara no Konrei".
I will introduce a little about the work.
The story of Count Dracula, which has been handed down since the Middle Ages, has been made into a new work fusing Malice Mizer's music and beautiful images. Hiroyuki Muto, who wrote the script, also shot promotional videos of Malice Mizer in the past and seems to have created this work inspired due to being inspired by them.

Interview

~Eternal Theme~  How to Master "Elegant Gothic"

In regards to elegant dressing, Mana sama states, "Never forget your nobility. That is fundamental." The brand "Moi-Meme-Moitie", launched by Mana sama with a theme of "elegant gothic lolita", opened a special shop at the Marui One Shinjuku store this fall.

What elements set the ambience of the store?
"The fundamental taste remains the same. I will use our display cases, coffin-shaped fitting rooms, and whatever I can bring in to create an atmosphere. The lighting can seem gloomy, but on the contrary, the products look fresh.  It has a pretty, beautiful air."

Many new pieces are already on display in the store. This season, printed items are attracting attention.
" The deep blue corset and skirt I wore in this shoot (Mana is wearing the Manuscript Print Corset and Skirt on pg. 15) has a print pattern with a Gothic feel, because the print looks like a religious painting. I really enjoy it, because we've never done anything like it."

Also, at the same time of the shop opening, the news of Malice Mizer's first movie appearance broke. The title is "Bara no Konrei (Wedding of Roses), which is elegant, but what kind of piece is it?
"It's a performance piece a bit different from an ordinary movie. A fusion between music and video from Malice Mizer. The main characters are our vocalist Klaha and bassist Yu~ki. I play a catholic nun, amongst other characters. If you are amused by the idea of us as actors and actresses, please watch the prologue video "Bara no Denshou", read our photobook ”Bara no Rinbu", and listen to the main theme "Mayonaka ni Kawashita Yakusoku ~Bara no Konrei~", so you can understand the movie better.

Malice Mizer and Moi-Meme-Moitie are ever-evolving while maintaining true to their foundations. We must pursue, surpass, and embody elegant gothic spirit!
